Work- Life Balance

The debate around the 40-hour workweek has taken public platforms by storm, and rightfully so. Seeing so many leaders advocate for a healthy work-life balance is both refreshing and much-needed. But here’s the real question: What should productivity truly mean?

To Dishan Kamdar, productivity isn’t about clocking endless hours or sacrificing well-being—it’s about disciplined, accountable, and focused work. Working constantly without understanding the value of rest or how the human mind recovers is counterproductive. Studies consistently show that productivity thrives when balance is prioritized, not when we push ourselves to exhaustion.

Even if you’re working a 9-5, here’s a reminder:

  • Don’t lose sleep over work. As you grow older, you’ll realize there are few things worth sacrificing for your health, peace, and personal well-being.
  • Quit unproductive habits. If skipping a smoke break gives you 15 extra minutes of deep focus, take that opportunity.
  • Master time management. This underrated skill can completely transform your efficiency and effectiveness.
  • While technology enables smarter work, its constant connectivity can blur boundaries. Dishan Kamdar emphasizes the need for digital detox practices and setting precise work hours to maintain balance.

Organizations must also rethink how they measure performance. Instead of tracking hours, they should focus on results, creativity, and innovation—elements that drive real success.

What’s your take—how do you approach work-life balance?
